Great Meetings & Conversations Recipe Cards

Transform your meetings & conversations with these simple steps to connect - engage - collaborate for positive impact.

People often ask us: “How do you create the CPL amazing meetings where people feel heard, learn so much from each other, and leave inspired and ready to deliver on the meeting commitments?” In other words, authentic engagement. We would say, there is a recipe that anyone can use to replicate spaces of authentic engagement to connect-engage-collaborate for positive impact.

20 years ago, we created The Art of Convening Trainings, a 9-step “recipe” for Collaboration. In the most succinct way we can share with you, the Art of Convening (AoC) process makes sure, at a minimum:

  1. There is a clear PURPOSE & INTENT for the meeting

  2. Everyone who is INVITED genuinely feels welcome and why they are there

  3. Everyone present trusts that their voice—their ideas, their opinions will be heard

  4. Everyone listens openly to the others present

  5. Then the heart of the matter as we call it, the consensus direction emerges

  6. The actions needed are then understood and agreed to

  7. And everyone leaves the meeting with a clear sense of “what is theirs to do.”

Imagine the power of that outcome, meeting after meeting.

One of “tools” that we use are these simple checklists or “recipe cards.” They create an easy reminder of what is at the heart of the matter . . . creating powerful spaces of authentic engagement for learning, collaboration, and growth. Paired with the AoC Convening Wheel,

The Art of Convening (AoC) comprises a profound, yet simple practice, incorporating nine core elements of inner and outer work. Taken together, the AoC presents a demonstrated model of purposeful leadership that assists committed individuals discern new ways of being more effective relational leaders, while performing the inner work to become skilled and masterful conveners.

Whether you lead from the front or from within, any AoC program will equip you to make a difference in any meeting or conversation–spanning your personal, professional and communal lives.
